For decades, Glory Cottage was the quaint little pine walled six room Bed and Breakfast in the heart of the 3rd Street activities. It stood for sale but interested parties could not imagine what to do with the seemingly impossible floor plan and narrow staircase. Kristen’s mother, a connoisseur of cottages, stumbled across the cottage with its own guest house and called Kristen to come quickly. This was Kristen’s first entry into the Naples real estate world, and this, her first cottage renovation, began the Old Naples return to the cottage design.
Working closely with MHK Architecture and Planning, Waterside Builders and the City of Naples, this cottage opened her doors to the 21st Century. By moving the front porch element and changing the front door location, the living space became two stories opening to the sunlight and second story railing. Sophisticated marbles, old oak flooring and organic woods graced the rooms with a fusion of ceiling treatments and space design Naples had not experienced for some time.
Each room was given thoughtful care to provide cozy comforts and beauty. Gracing the two story wall of the living space was a natural grey wood wreath and branch from a windblown tree and underneath her use of white cushioned sofas and chairs offset by vintage wood consoles, tables, and seagrass grounding. Interesting and unique pieces discovered only by scouring the country are always found in Kristen’s homes which makes them once upon a lifetime find. The pool and guest house with its little back door were at the heart of her love of providing guests with lovely spaces to enjoy the Naples lifestyle.
Location was a key factor with the sugar sand beach just a few blocks away and the world-class shops and restaurants at her doorstep. This, her first home in Naples, was one of those homes everyone wanted to drive by, and soon, everyone wanted to build one of their own.
